Musings and ramblings related the Burda family

As many of you know, Tristan has experienced migraines. The process to find a cure for him has been challenging and frustrating. We have visited opthamalogists, optometrists, chiropractors and pediatricians.

We have appointments scheduled with neurologists.

In our last visit, the chiropractor announced that he could cure Tristan through a course of 18 - 24 sessions. As he exited the room after describing the treatment, he said that his assistant would discuss the cost.

At that moment, I understood how my grandfather must have felt. My grandpa Manley encountered three major medical situations in his life with his family. He provided for all of them. It came at a cost for him as he was never able to purchase the farm on which he worked.

At the point that the chiropractor announced that he had a solution and coupled by the fact that our pediatrician was more comfortable with this line of treatment, I could tell that Stacy wanted to proceed. I knew that of all the options, this seemed to have the most hope. I wanted to proceed.

My thoughts turned to how do we proceed rather than how would we pay for this - realizing that the treatment might be expensive.

At that point, I understood my grandfather. As he was faced three times with major medical issues. His concern and focus was not on the money but on treating his family.

I would like to say that I am as brave as my grandfather. For me, the outcome was much different. The assistant informed us that the treatments were covered at 100% so the impact to our family will be minimal if not nil. But there for a moment, I felt connected to my grandfather in a way I never had before.
