Musings and ramblings related the Burda family

Stacy is in Omaha. Cecilia has no glasses. So much is happening. For those interested, we have had much rain in the last few days.

Stacy is on her "Walk to Emmaus" With the rain, I know that Stacy will not be able to get outside. That is both good and bad. On one hand, I felt like I was giving up some "good" time last week. I then realized that it was not my time to give up. I wonder what Stacy is thinking right now. The "Walk" was life changing for me. I won't post any specifics or details so if you want to know more you will need to ask.

Tristan shared his story with me. I was his favorite person. It was extremely cool. I only hope that I can continue to live up to his standards. I believe that my "Walk" will help me accomplish that. Sorry, I said I would not comment any more ;-).

Tristan described me as having brownish/grayish hair. I told that to my friend Patrick. He said "grayish". Oh well, when you have a mother for a beautician gray hair does not have to be permanent.

Cecilia loves her glasses. She carries her glass's case everywhere.

Take care,

Mike

And here's the final image today. She picked out her glasses all by herself, and I think she did a great job. She is nearsighted. That's our girl... Posted by Picasa

Here she is again...holding her tongue right behind her teeth. This may look familiar to those of you who remember her mother's childhood photos! Posted by Picasa

Cecilia has been anxiously waiting to be able to show you her surprise! Posted by Picasa

After the DI Flurry

So after a flurry of events, things have subsided.

It has been nice to have a breather. Life will get hectic very soon.

We finalized the schedule for the children to visit relatives over the summer. E-mail or call Stacy for the details. Each year, Cecilia and Tristan visit the grandparents and their Aunt Suzy. In total, they visit for 6 weeks during the summer.

I view (and I believe Stacy does as well) with both excitement and regret. Cecilia is nine. That means that she is half way through her "minor" journey with us. I would rewind and do it all again if I could. And then, I look forward to watching her grow and mature. Global Finals will be a big step in her development.

Tristan is seven. He amazes me. We have been playing baseball outside. I had been pitching underhand to him. I started pitching overhand and adding some zip to the pitches. He stood in there and knocked the snot out of the ball. He is fearless and at times a bit reckless. He will be a great buddy. So one one hand, I like having my young son to play baseball. On the other hand, he will be a great man some day and  it will be wonderful to be his friend. So I look forward to him growing and I regret it at the same time.

The summer is much like that. Stacy and I like the time to ourselves. We love the fact that our children will get to know their grandparents. But we regret giving up 6 weeks of our time together.

I have my "Walk to Emmaus" this weekend. I am ready. I found this link on the web - http://www.upperroom.org/emmaus/whatis/

I don't know anything about it except that I will be gone Friday through Sunday. If you have time, call Stacy to make sure that all is well. She will have the kids all weekend. Next weekend, Stacy goes on the "Walk".

That is all,

Mike

That's 110 pounds. It broke when the 110th pound was placed on the structure. This gave the team a score of 101 pounds. The most for any elementary team. By contrast the most any high school team held was in the 120's. Posted by Picasa

Cecilia's Challenge times

Cecilia's Destination Imagination (DI) team will have their Central challenge (the challenge everyone can watch) at 10:35 AM in the Field House on UNK's campus.

Here is a map of UNK's campus  - http://www.unk.edu/about/fastfacts/index.php?id=339

I can't find the Field House on the map. If anyone reading this blog knows where the Field House is - post a response in the comments or e-mail me at mike@esellerate.net, otherwise, I will ask around and see if I can get directions.

Tell Stacy what you think

For those who read this blog, let me ask a favor.

Call or e-mail Stacy (sstupka-burda@nebraskahistory.org) today and tell her how wonderful you think she is.

Don't mention the blog, we will see how often Stacy reads it ;-).

Thanks,

Mike

Kimi qualifies 4th places 2nd

Kimi outqualified Michael. Dad wins $5.00.

Unfortunately, Alonso won the race but there is always the next fortnight.
