I believe in Miracles

Tristan and I attended the Broncos-Colts game this weekend. For those of you keeping score, we bought tickets at face value.  I am sad to report that Mark and Suzy did not make the game.

Tickets were hard to find.  Tristan and I started the morning around 7:00 AM in our quest to find tickets. 7:00 AM was not too early as we were helped by Daylight Savings Time and a time zone difference. It actually felt like 9:00 AM.

Tristan worked the crowds and even worked Federal Street in Denver.  Once Tristan decided to ask one of the scalpers what they were asking for "uppers" (tickets in the upper level).

After expressing a bit of sadness that Stacy and Mark would not make the game, Tristan and I entered Invesco Field at Mile High.

Tristan enjoyed all of it, including the long walk to our seats.  We sat very high but we had a great view of the game.

Tristan made Rocky Mountain Thunder and yelled In-Com-Plete when Payton did not complete a pass (which was not that often).

At a critical point in the game, Tristan started yelling "I Believe in Miracles".  This was taken from one of his favorite movies, where Frank Gifford asks, "Do you believe in miracles?" as the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team beat the Soviets.

I also learned to believe in a  miracle that day, the miracle I know as Tristan.

Public Service

I found this post on Gwadzilla. He summed it perfectly. Cheney shoots a man in the back of the head but when a citizen who Cheney was elected to serve voices a concern he is arrested.

Double Zero

It is interesting. The British when supplying a phone number will say "double zero, one,  double four"  or "double 0, one, double four" for a number such as 001 44 782 1435.

In the U.S., we will say "zero, zero, one, four, four: or "O O 1, forty-four". (Technically, international calling from the U.S. starts 011 but that is another discussion" - which in the U.S. would be 'zero, one, one" and in the U.K. would be "zer.

I guess there is a reason that James Bond is "Double O seven". In the U.S. he would have been "Zero, Zero, Seven".

Great minds and generosioty

Tonite, Tristan and I attended the Stars' home opener. As we waited inline for a drink and a sandwich, we found ourselves behind Danny Baco's Dad.  :e had a coupon for a free cola which he gave to Tristan. He asked us to root for Danny, which we will.

As Danny's Dad paid for his sandwich I noticed that he used a paper clip for a money clip. I do the same.

It's gonna be a great time, great game and a great season.

More later, it's game time.

DRM

DRM elicits strong reactions by many people. I work with individuals who spend a great amount of time developing amazing games, tools, and other pieces of software. They need to protect their intellectual property.

I also believe that artists should be able to protect their work. I understand the argument on the anti-DRM side. If I buy something- particularly music- I should be able to play it anywhere. That is a debatable point.

But here is what I don’t get - http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomasexciting/260359502/ - entering someone’s place of business and defacing their work.

That makes no sense to me.

'Twas Grace

Almost everyone recognizes and knows the first verse of “Amazing Grace”. Over time and through a more thorough understanding of Grace, the second verse has started to speak to me. “Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear, And Grace my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear The hour I first believed”.

Cecilia decorates my bike helmet.

Sunday, the family biked to First Church. During services, students from the musical production of Big River sang a medley. We decided to attend "Big River". Everyone enjoyed it.

During one of the times that we chained the bikes, I lost the white cover for my helment. Functionally, the helmet works so I asked Cecilia if she wanted to place stickers on my helmet. She did and the picture is shown to the right.

On Monday, Stacy biked to work and crashed. She is fine but she appreciated her helmet.

RinkAtlas (For Hockey Players)

This is a post from Guy Kawasaki’s blog.

In case you hadn’t noticed, I love hockey. A buddy named Dave Aiello just told me about a website that he created called RinkAtlas.

He used the Google Maps API and verified and corrected the geocoding to over 1,800 rinks in the fifty states and Puerto Rico. If you ever need to find a rink, this is the site to use. It’s the first mashup that I’ve found useful. :-)
